EMDR FUSION

I am Sue Hollingsworth, an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, offering EMDR therapy to adults, children and adolescents.
Alongside my work with adults, I am also an EMDR Europe Accredited Child & Adolescent Practitioner, reflecting specialist training and experience in developmentally adapted EMDR practice.
I work using an EMDR fusion approach, grounded in relational, attachment-informed and trauma-aware therapeutic practice, and drawing where helpful on other evidence-based psychological approaches such as CBT, ACT and DBT.
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) commonly used to support people who have experienced trauma.
Sometimes experiences are too intense for the brain to process fully at the time. EMDR supports the brain to reprocess these experiences so they feel less distressing and have less impact on everyday life.
EMDR can be helpful for adults and young people experiencing anxiety, trauma, or ongoing emotional reactions linked to past events.
More information on EMDR can be found here.
EMDR Fusion
I practise EMDR using a fusion model, often integrating EMDR with other therapeutic approaches where this is clinically helpful, while also using the standard EMDR protocol when appropriate.
This approach allows therapy to be shaped around the individual, moving at a pace that feels safe and manageable, and always held within a strong therapeutic relationship.
For adults, this may involve integrating EMDR with relational or reflective therapy.
For children and adolescents, EMDR is adapted developmentally and may include creative or play-based elements.
EMDR with Children & Adolescents
Working with children and young people using EMDR requires specialist training and accreditation.
As an EMDR Europe Accredited Child & Adolescent Therapist, I adapt EMDR carefully to the child’s age, emotional development, and relational context. This may include the use of imagery, play, drawing, or storytelling.
Where appropriate, parents or caregivers may be involved in parts of the process to support the child’s sense of safety.
EMDR–Sandtray Therapy
I have completed specialist training in EMDR–Sandtray Therapy with Ana Gomez, a leading EMDR clinician in work with children and adolescents
EMDR–Sandtray Therapy integrates EMDR with symbolic and sensory-based work, supporting children, adolescents, and adults to process experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
This approach can be particularly helpful where experiences are held emotionally or physically rather than as clear memories, and where imagery, metaphor, or symbolic expression feels more accessible than talking alone.
Sandtray is used thoughtfully and only when appropriate, as part of an integrated EMDR fusion approach.
Who I Work With
I offer EMDR therapy to adults, children and adolescents.
I work with people who have been affected by trauma or overwhelming experiences, including where these continue to impact emotional wellbeing, regulation, relationships, or day-to-day life.
Contact Me
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you decide whether EMDR, and working with me, feels like the right fit. This is an opportunity to ask questions, briefly share what has brought you to therapy, and think together about next steps. If you would like to arrange a consultation, please contact me at emdrfusion@ragdolltts.co.uk to discuss further.
I offer EMDR therapy both in person and online, and we can think together about what feels most appropriate for you.
